Enzo’s Italian Restaurant is in the Florence area of Omaha. It is tucked into a busy neighborhood with on-street parking. They are open for lunch and dinner on Monday through Saturday. When in the area, it’s a great place to check out. And it’s worth the trip if you aren’t in the area. Chef Enzo serves traditional Italian foods and pizza with a focus on home made. Fresh ingredients and authentic dishes are sure to have you putting this on your favorite list of places to dine.
The meddling of flavors of the tomatoes, the fresh basil, and the balsamic glaze was delicious. The crostini’s were crisp, appropriately oiled and dusted with Parmesan cheese. The Bruschetta was ‘deemed the best’ Jim has had. That’s a great compliment. There are other appetizers including mussels, eggplant rollatini, fried calamari, garlic cheese bread. You literally could make a meal of the appetizers. There is a great soup and salad offering, which a choice came with our entrees. The tomato & basil soup was fantastic, with smooth consistency. Patty was ‘Just ok’ with the minestrone soup. The soup course was served with dense, tender rolls which had a subtle garlic butter flavor and homemade seasoned butter served with them. We would love to go back and try their brick oven pizza- delicious sounding combinations are offered, as well as additional salads that deserve a look. At lunch, they have calzones, Paninis, sandwiches and fresh (homemade) pasta.
Jim chose the beef tips which were tender, tasty and served on ‘great’ home made linguini.
Patty tried the chicken Parmigiana which she found to be quite tasty with a nice, rich tomato sauce with homemade angel hair pasta topped with olive oil and mozzarella cheese .
Rick ordered the chicken saltimbocca with Prosciutto, asparagus, mozzarella and sage white wine gravy. Rick was pleased with his dish other than the asparagus was rather tough. He had sides of house seasoned roasted potato and steamed broccoli.
Sarah ordered the Faroe Island Salmon with roasted garlic, tomatoes, basil and white wine sauce. The salmon was flavorful and flakey. The garlic, tomato, basil topping was flavorful, but after the tomato basil soup and Bruschetta, it wasn’t as special if I hadn’t had those to start with. It also came with the house potatoes and steamed broccoli.
THE SERVICE: We met on a Wednesday night and were quickly seated. Later in the evening, they did have a full restaurant but we never saw anyone waiting for a table. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Drink orders were taken and an order of tomato bruschetta was placed. It quickly arrived.
SUMMARY: Overall, we had a lovely Italian meal with great friends at a good value for our meals. Entrees with soup and bread ran $16 to $24 each. The appetizers are $6 to $9. They have a full bar with a good wine list.
